The cerulean sky – asmān or आसमान or آسمان is the inspiration behind Aāsmani. Many people have asked us the rationale behind the name Aāsmani By Arundhati. To start with, we love the blue sky! The sky to us symbolizes a vast expanse with endless possibilities. Also, our foray into the world of textiles started with natural indigo – the magical dye that has kept the world mesmerized ever since the days of the Indus Valley civilization.

We started working with natural indigo and in parallel, discovered our love for the handwoven jamdani. As of today we work with skilled handloom weavers and artisans across several districts of West Bengal to create a range of clean, eco-friendly handwoven and handcrafted textiles using various weaving and craft techniques. We love to travel, visit weaving and craft clusters, interact with artisan communities, explore areas of collaboration, and come back inspired.
