Jamdani

Jamdani is a supplementary weft technique of weaving that has been in existence for over 2000 years. Jamdani is renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and delicate patterns. The technique is often called loom embroidery due to the embossed look of the motifs, that is a result of thicker yarn being used for the extra weft motifs compared to the base yarn. As a result of using this technique intricate designs seem to float on the surface of the fabric. Typically made of fine cotton, jamdani textiles boast of a sheer and airy quality, making them ideal for warm climates.
